Stars Reach Founders Packs and Steam Keys Explained
What it costs today
Stars Reach is $29.99 USD on Steam, and that is a purchase rather than a subscription. There is no demo and no free trial on the store page.
Three separate Founders Pack products sit alongside the base game on Steam:
| Pack | Steam price |
|---|---|
| Stars Reach — Firstlight Founders Pack | $1.25 |
| Stars Reach — Voyager Founders Pack | $20.00 |
| Stars Reach — Cosmonaut Founders Pack | $50.00 |
Playable Worlds has not published a public contents table for the three tiers, so this page lists the prices as they appear on Steam and stops there. If you need to know exactly what a tier contains, the store listing for that specific pack is the only authoritative source — and it is worth reading before buying, because these are separate SKUs from the game itself.
What Kickstarter backers got
Stars Reach ran a Kickstarter in early 2025, and the terms are documented in the official FAQ. Backers at the $30 Reacher tier and above received:
- Priority access into the closed playtests once the campaign closed on 25 March 2025
- A Steam key, so Early Access admission was included rather than a separate purchase
- Property Pass ability through all of testing and Early Access — the entitlement that lets you start a homestead or be a long-term landowner
- Kickstarter-only rewards described in the campaign’s rewards section
The FAQ also states that anyone with a Steam key can play in Early Access, and that Steam keys come from three routes: a $30+ Kickstarter pledge, a Founders Pack purchase, or buying the Early Access key from Steam.
The monetisation plan, and its expiry date
This is where you have to read the date on the source. The official FAQ page was last revised on 7 March 2025 — during the Kickstarter, five months before Early Access opened. It describes the plan as:
- Free-to-play at full launch, preceded by a paid Head Start period of a few days
- Property Passes becoming a monthly paid pass after launch
- Optional supporter packs released every few months, explicitly not required
- An MTX store post-launch, with a stated intent to avoid anything that could be perceived as pay-to-win
- A social currency rewarding regular players with shop purchasing power
Every one of those is a stated intention from before the game shipped. None has been re-confirmed in a dated Early Access post. Treat them as the studio’s plan of record, not as terms you are buying into today. The same FAQ still describes the game as being in pre-alpha, which it plainly is not — that is how stale the page is.
Is buying now a good deal?
Two facts should drive that decision rather than pack contents. First, the studio’s stated plan is free-to-play at 1.0, so paying $29.99 now is paying for early access rather than for permanent access. Second, wipes are still on the table during Early Access with a final one when it ends, so what you build with the money is not guaranteed to survive.
Our is-it-worth-it page sets that against the Steam review split and the current player count.
What does not exist
There are no Stars Reach promo codes. Not expired ones, not regional ones — the game has never operated a code system. The only “codes” in this ecosystem are Steam keys, which come from the three routes above. Any page listing redeemable Stars Reach codes is generating content for a search term with no answer behind it.
