Stars Reach — two words, no apostrophe. Playable Worlds writes it that way on the Steam store page and on starsreach.com, and the misspellings Star's Reach, Star Reach and Starsreach all point at the same game.

No. There is an unrelated post-industrial novel called Star's Reach by John Michael Greer, and searches for it collide with the game constantly. This site only covers the Playable Worlds MMORPG.

A sandbox MMORPG from Playable Worlds, the studio led by Raph Koster, who designed Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies. It runs one shardless galaxy of simulated planets where water flows, forests burn and terrain you reshape stays reshaped. It entered Steam Early Access on 18 August 2026 at $29.99.

Not during Early Access — it is a paid $29.99 Steam purchase, and there is no free trial or demo on the store page. Playable Worlds has said the plan is to go free-to-play at full launch, with a paid Head Start period before that; treat that as a stated intention rather than a dated promise.

No. Stars Reach has never issued promo codes — it is a paid PC MMO, not a Roblox-style code economy. Sites listing 'Stars Reach codes' are generating pages for a search that has no answer. What does exist is Steam keys, which come from a Founders Pack, a $30-or-higher Kickstarter pledge, or buying the game.

It depends on the world. Whoever governs a planet sets its laws, and that includes whether the world is PvP-enabled or a protected roleplay haven. There is no single global PvP switch.

Eight are planned, and the studio said in March 2025 it had 'always hoped to have eight in place'. Six have full official Roleplay Guides — Terran, Elioni, Skwatchi, Gertan, Stokadi and Fae — while Hansians and Hyugons have design write-ups instead. No classes. It uses horizontal progression: you learn skills that happen to be grouped under professions, start at the bottom of any tree, and can mix trees freely. A Skill Cap limits how many skills you can keep Active at once, so changing your build means putting skills out of practice rather than rerolling.

Not yet. The Steam store page lists Windows only — no Mac, no Linux, no console build, and no announced port. Nothing about the Early Access build is on a console storefront today.

The official Discord invite is linked from starsreach.com and the community subreddit is r/StarsReach, which is also linked from the official site. The studio also runs a Twitch channel and a YouTube channel under playstarsreach, and both are where fireside chats land first.

Server wipes were routine during the closed playtests and Playable Worlds has said wipes will still happen occasionally during Early Access while it balances the economy, with a final wipe when Early Access concludes. Plan long builds around that rather than assuming permanence.

Fewer than the search volume suggests. Steam's own concurrent counter has peaked at 227 players all-time and averaged around 121 over the last 30 days, against 454 Steam reviews. Our player count page keeps the current snapshot with the date it was taken.
